Living so far from home has taught me a lot. One of the biggest things I’ve realized is how much I appreciate my parents. This one’s dedicated to my dad (sorry, mom).
I’ve always loved my dad (I mean, who doesn’t love this cool cat), but I think working at his office this past summer I realized how truly wonderful he is. I’ve only ever known him as “dad,” so it was eye opening to see him in an environment where that’s not his title. I was amazed how much I learned from him and how much I admired his behaviors. He’s a leader that people respect because he’s genuine, honest, and straightforward but strong and firm at the same time.
In general, he’s just kind of the goat. He’s the funniest person I’ve ever known (even though at times I replace the word funny with weird…), and he doesn’t even have to try. He’s the definition of a family man and always prioritizes my mom, my brother, and me. If he was in town, I don’t think he missed a single one of my high school tennis matches or cheer events. He’s humble, faithful, and treats everyone single person with the same level of respect, no matter their age, job, or walk of life. Basically, he is everything I want to be and everything I want my future husband to be (which is a big set of shoes to fill… no pressure, boys).
Shoutout to Grant for being just plain awesome; I love you. xx
