Welllllll it’s officially Christmas season!!!! Okay, maybe not yet, but we’re getting closer. I’ve always been a stickler about no trees or lights until Thanksgiving, but I think the Christmas music might make an early appearance in my Spotify feed this year.
I’m walking away from October 2016 with more gratitude for the people, places, and things in my life. I think everyone can fall victim to the comparison game every once and a while. “Well they have this,” or “They’re hanging out with Mary Sue Betty Bob, and I’m not!” or “Gosh darnit, why aren’t I doing this or this, because they are and I need to catch up!” (that was the name of my role in the eighth grade play, in case you were wondering). It’s so easy to get consumed in a battle of ‘them vs. me’ and constantly put yourself up against someone else——even the people that you love.
The truth of the matter is that no one needs (or wants) that, folks. Focus on being you, no matter how that may look. Celebrate yourself, and strive to be a better you every single day. No one else can change you, and why should they——you’ve got places to go and things to do, and you know what: you’ve just always got to be you.
