Describe yourself in three words.
Quirky, Extroverted, Emotional
Favorite movie? Album? Artist?
Akeelah and the Bee, Troye Sivan’s Blue Neighbourhood, and Beyonce
Are you where you thought you’d be when you were younger?
Not at all. I thought I would be a firefighter or something of that nature. I never thought I would be studying Journalism and Vocal Performance at Northwestern. I never thought opera would become a major part of my life. I’m no where near where I thought I would be.
What’s something important to you?
Being able to confide in others. I think it’s so important that we all share our stories, and I think it’s so important that we can share ours. So it’s important for me to form those personal bonds so they can share and I can share, and together we can embrace who we are. Moreover, I love writing about my struggles and whatnot, and that is very important to me as well. Being able to confide in writing. I think everyone should have a creative outlet, and writing is mine.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
What a question. I hopefully will be starting or comfortable in some position at a fashion magazine. I hope to be in New York, and I really hope to be working for Vogue. I know. Big dreams. Or, I would be touring singing in different operas around the country. I know, even bigger dreams. I try to set high goals for myself, and I know that I can achieve those goals through hard work and determination. I know I will achieve what I want to do, and I know I can do it.
How did you get to Northwestern University?
Oh gosh. Well, I mean I followed all of the logistical stuff. I got a pretty good ACT score, maintained a 4.0 GPA, which is Northwestern’s average, and wrote my college essay about something important to me. But, I also think I got to Northwestern through hard work, and I got here because I wouldn’t have let myself fail in getting here. I don’t know. It goes along with the previous question. I know I will achieve what I set my mind to, and I won’t let myself fail.
I don’t have the right words to describe Sam or, better yet, what he means to me. As I’ve said before, he is quite the man. I can’t wait to watch him grow, succeed, and smile as he continues on his journey. There are some people that come into your life that are a pure blessing, and Samuel Maude is just that. A blessing beyond belief. Keep being you, love. xx
